The Hudson-Mohawk Search and Rescue Team is a Not-For-Profit 501(c)(3) corporation that provides search and rescue service to NYSDEC Area 4, the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains, and western New England.
Our philosophy is to provide our organization’s volunteers with training in SAR techniques and methodology and to provide emergency response organizations with highly trained personnel to assist in SAR situations.
Our membership is very diverse with various professional backgrounds. We focus on specific training for our membership to provide the most appropriate assistance to the requesting agency.
The HuMSAR K-9 Unit is a sub-group within Hudson-Mohawk SAR Team. HuMSAR’s K-9 Unit is a wilderness rescue tool dedicated to finding lost subjects and saving lives using trained and certified handler/dog teams in conjunction with the HuMSAR Team Organization, functioning under the authority of jurisdictional agencies.
The K9 Unit specializes in Live Find Air-Scent and Cadaver, so our dogs are certified in either or both.
The K9 Unit will only accept K9 Handler applicants that are current members of the SAR Team, that have all applicable Advanced training completed and with the experience of at least three actual searches with our Team. All HuMSAR members are eligible to flank Handler/K9 teams once they have received the applicable training.
